Microchip Technology is driving innovation in global infrastructure timing with embedded timing measurement tools that enable clock synchronization at a level previously only available in metrology labs.

Microchip announced on the 16th its 'SkyWire™' technology, which enables nanosecond-precision comparison and synchronization between geographically separated clocks.

This technology, a timing measurement tool built into the BlueSky™ GNSS Firewall 2200, can dramatically improve timing accuracy in critical infrastructure such as data centers, power utilities, telecommunications networks, and financial institutions.

SkyWire™ enables clock synchronization in general infrastructure environments, a level of synchronization previously only possible in metrology laboratories, through precise time comparisons with Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

This enables nanosecond-level time alignment regardless of clock position in diverse fields such as air traffic control, transportation systems, public utilities, and financial services, significantly improving system resilience and security.

SkyWire™ technology is an extension of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)'s Time Measurement and Analysis Service (TMAS) and is a solution for organizations that require accurate local time reference.

BlueSky The GNSS Firewall 2200 is a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product that enables major infrastructure operators to build large-scale clock networks by connecting to the NIST TMAS Data Service.
