SK Hynix has become the first company in the industry to obtain global eco-friendly certification for 15 types of memory semiconductors, including HBM3 and HBM3E, leading the way in sustainability in the semiconductor industry.

SK Hynix announced on the 5th that it has received 'Carbon Reducing' and 'Carbon Footprint' certifications from the UK's global eco-friendly certification agency 'Carbon Trust' for a total of 15 memory products, including high-bandwidth memory (HBM), DRAM, NAND, and storage devices.

This is a case in which both performance and environmental friendliness have been recognized in the semiconductor industry, proving sustainable technological competitiveness.

What is particularly noteworthy about this certification is that SK Hynix is the first company in the industry to receive ‘carbon reduction’ certification for its HBM3 and HBM3E product lines.

The certified products are a total of four types: △16GB HBM2E 8-layer △16GB HBM3 8-layer △24GB HBM3E 8-layer △36GB HBM3E 12-layer, and were recognized for their achievement of substantially reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to similar products from the previous year.

thisSeven DRAM products, including two LPDDR5 types, two GDDR6 types, and three DDR5 DIMM types, also received 'carbon reduction' certification, while four NAND and storage device products, including one NAND type, two eSSD types, and one cSSD type, received 'carbon footprint' certification. 'Carbon footprint' certification is awarded to products that quantify and disclose greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the entire life cycle of the product.

Last year, SK Hynix continued to expand its certification scope, obtaining carbon reduction certification for six products, including LPDDR5, DDR5, and cSSD, and carbon footprint certification for NAND, UFS, and eSSD products. Through this, SK Hynix transparently demonstrates its carbon reduction performance to global customers and investors.
