Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong has expressed his intention to turn the crisis into an opportunity by restoring technological competitiveness through on-site management.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 22nd that Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited the Giheung and Hwaseong semiconductor campuses in succession to review the competitiveness of next-generation semiconductor technology and discuss future strategies.

Amidst the intensifying competition for technological supremacy in the global semiconductor market, this move is interpreted as a move by Samsung Electronics to strengthen its on-site management to secure future growth engines.

Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited Samsung Electronics' Giheung Campus NRD-K this morning and personally confirmed the competitiveness of next-generation products and technologies, including memory, foundry, and system semiconductors.

NRD-K is a state-of-the-art R&D complex built by Samsung Electronics to secure a lead in future semiconductor technology. It is where core technology research, such as overcoming microprocess limitations and developing advanced semiconductor design technology, is concentrated.

The industry interprets Chairman Lee's visit as a strategic message aimed at securing leadership in future semiconductor technology.

In the afternoon, we moved to the Hwaseong Semiconductor Campus and inspected the status of advanced manufacturing systems, including digital twins, robot-based automation, and AI technology utilization.

Samsung Electronics has recently been actively adopting AI, robots, and simulation-based smart factory technologies to enhance manufacturing efficiency and quality competitiveness. />
Chairman Lee Jae-yong discussed global semiconductor industry trends and mid- to long-term strategies with key executives, including DS Division Head Jeon Young-hyun and DS Division CTO Song Jae-hyeok, at the Hwaseong Campus.

Next, we held a meeting with development, manufacturing, and quality staff who contributed to the commercialization of cutting-edge semiconductor products such as HBM, D1c, and V10, and heard their opinions directly from the field.

At the on-site meeting, Chairman Lee emphasized the importance of securing future technologies, saying, “Let’s restore our fundamental technological competitiveness through bold innovation and investment.”
