The global PC market is projected to show a distinct recovery in 2025, recording a growth rate close to double digits.

Global market research firm Gartner announced on the 21st that global PC shipments in 2025 are estimated at approximately 270 million units, a 9.1% increase from the previous year.

This is an indicator showing that after passing through the recession in 2022–2023 and following a moderate rebound in 2024, it has entered a full-fledged growth phase.

According to preliminary research results released by Gartner, PC shipments in the fourth quarter of 2025 reached 71.5 million units, up 9.3% from the same period last year.

It is analyzed that the recovery in consumer demand and the demand for Windows 11 upgrades from businesses have driven market growth.

In particular, manufacturers' moves to secure inventory due to rising memory prices and concerns over supply shortages also influenced the increase in shipments.

“Demand for Windows 11 transitions and increased consumer purchases boosted the market in the fourth quarter,” explained Rishi Padhi, head of research at Gartner. “However, the average selling price remained largely unchanged as the effects of price hikes for high-end GPUs and AI PCs were offset by promotional competition and price pressure.”

Lenovo, HP, and Dell maintained the top three spots in the global PC manufacturer rankings for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Lenovo shipped 19.43 million units in the fourth quarter, 14.3% They grew, with HP recording a growth rate of 12.1% and Dell 18.2%.

Apple, Asus, and Acer also showed slight growth, but their market share decreased slightly or remained stagnant.

On an annual basis, Lenovo solidified its number one position with 73.56 million units shipped, growing by 17.6%. HP and Dell maintained their second and third places, respectively, with 57.45 million and 41.39 million units shipped.

Apple grew 10.3% and shipped 24.82 million units, slightly expanding its market share.

Gartner cited tariff policy volatility, rising memory prices, increased costs for Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU), and the driving of replacement demand centered on AI PCs as key factors for PC market growth in 2025.

"Companies are replacing their IT infrastructure in preparation for the future rather than for short-term AI utilization," said Director Padi. "While AI PCs have contributed to market growth, the productivity improvement effect for some functions, such as local inference, is still limited compared to cloud-based AI," he analyzed.

Gartner predicted that market growth would continue in 2026 as demand for Windows 11 transitions and the arrival of enterprise PC replacement cycles persist.

However, it was predicted that the actual usability and price competitiveness of AI PCs would determine the future market landscape.
