Verkada Builds AI-Based Integrated Physical Security Platform at Woosong University
Verkada, an AI-based physical security company, announced on the 2nd that Woosong University has improved its IT infrastructure management and security operation system by introducing its integrated physical security platform.
The university chose a platform that enables integrated control and AI analytics to increase visibility and accountability across its distributed IT core.
Woosong University in Daejeon has been examining the limitations of its existing security environment to improve management efficiency in key IT spaces such as server rooms, UPS rooms, and communication rooms.
As cameras and door locks were operated separately, manual verification was time-consuming when issues arose, and managing history and securing remote visibility in the communications room and distributed backbone room, which are frequently accessed by external partners, were identified as challenges.
Accordingly, Woosong University introduced Verkada, which can operate video security, access control, and air quality sensors on a single platform.
In the server room and communication room, video cameras and access control are linked to manage access history, and environmental information such as temperature and humidity are constantly monitored through air quality sensors.
Cameras were also installed in the backbone rooms of the East and West campuses to enable real-time monitoring of equipment status and access.
Since its introduction, the university explained that it has improved response efficiency by shortening video investigation time through AI-based search functions and linking records from multiple cameras to identify specific individuals' movements and activities.
There have even been instances where remote collaboration allowed for installation locations to be determined without an on-site visit. Kim Byeong-ryeol, team leader at the Postal Information Center, stated that the integrated platform has improved visibility and accountability for IT operations.
Woosong University plans to expand the scope of application to dormitories and college buildings in the future and strengthen its prevention-oriented operational management system by utilizing accumulated environmental data.
