Intel announced on the 2nd (US time) a new product for client workstations, the Intel Xeon 600 Workstation Processor .

The new product supports up to 86 cores and PCIe 5.0 connectivity, and features improved performance and power efficiency compared to the previous generation.

This product is a workstation processor that increases the number of cores and enhances memory and I/O performance to meet the growing demand for high-performance computing.

Intel explained that it has improved performance efficiency and scalability across its entire generation portfolio by applying the latest processes and architectures.

The Xeon 600 is designed based on Intel's 3rd process and Redwood Cove+ core architecture.

Intel claims that single-thread performance is up to 9% better and multi-thread performance is up to 61% better than the previous generation, with turbo frequencies up to 4.8GHz. In particular, the 86-core model, Xeon 698X, recorded a significant improvement in MT performance based on power consumption targets.

On the platform side, it supports up to 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes, enabling multi-GPU and high-speed storage configurations.

The memory supports up to 8-channel DDR5 RDIMM, and the newly added DDR5 MRDIMM provides speeds of up to 8000MT/s.

Intel AMX for AI workloads adds FP16 data type support.

These specifications are aimed at professional workloads such as data science and AI development, engineering simulations, and media and entertainment content creation.

Intel also announced that it has enhanced stability and manageability in corporate environments through ECC memory, RAS functions, and vPro technology in terms of security and management.

The Xeon 600 processor for workstations will be available through OEM and system integration partners beginning in late March 2026, and will also be available in boxed form through major retailers. Retail models will offer a range of cores, from 64 to 18 cores.
