SK Telecom is implementing special communication measures to ensure the stability of its communication services during the Lunar New Year holiday and the Winter Olympics. To prepare for the expected increase in traffic during the holiday period and the potential overlap with major international events, the company has established a comprehensive response system covering network operations, customer service, and security management.

SK Telecom announced on February 9, 2026, that it will implement special communication measures to ensure stable communication services during the Lunar New Year holiday and the Winter Olympics. Accordingly, a special communication situation room will be operated for six days, from February 13 to 18, and communication services will be monitored 24 hours a day.

This measure will involve a total of 8,600 people, or an average of 1,400 people per day, including specialists from subsidiaries, affiliates, and partners. SK Broadband, SK O&S, Home & Service, and other subsidiaries, as well as SK AX and SK Shields, are participating together to establish a response system.

SK Telecom has completed a capacity check of its base stations at approximately 1,200 locations nationwide, including major train stations, bus terminals, airports, parks, and cemeteries, in preparation for increased data traffic during the Lunar New Year holiday.

With data traffic expected to increase by up to 17% compared to normal times on Lunar New Year's Day, we plan to maintain the communication environment by optimizing coverage.

Additionally, video calling service will be offered free of charge for five days from February 14th to 18th. Customers eligible for video calling will automatically receive the free benefit during this period without a separate application. A separate situation room will also be operated for key services such as Adot, PASS, T Map, and T ID to support traffic management and normal operation.

With the Winter Olympics taking place from February 7th to 23rd, SK Telecom and SK Broadband will jointly manage their wired and wireless networks to prepare for increased content distribution. With the Winter Olympics and Lunar New Year holidays overlapping, international roaming users are expected to increase by more than 30% compared to normal times, and intensive management of international roaming services will also be implemented.

In the security sector, we operate an integrated security center in collaboration with seven affiliates and maintain a 24-hour monitoring system for hacking attempts and DDoS attacks. Additionally, network and cloud management, as well as blocking and monitoring of smishing attempts impersonating government agencies, will continue throughout the holiday period.

SK Telecom Network Operations Manager Bok Jae-won said that the company plans to manage communication quality to ensure that customers can use communication services during the long Lunar New Year holiday, and that it will operate a response system in preparation for large-scale events such as the Winter Olympics.
