Snowflake is expanding its collaboration with Antropic to broaden enterprise AI capabilities that leverage the Claude model on its data platform. The two companies plan to apply Claude-based capabilities to key products, including Snowflake Cortex AI, Cortex Code, and Snowflake Intelligence, enabling enterprises to operate AI agents and development tasks based on their internal data.

This announcement was unveiled at the 'Snowflake Summit 26,' held in San Francisco, USA, from June 1 to 4 (local time). Snowflake explained that as companies move generative AI from the technology validation stage to actual operating environments, there is a growing need for AI utilization methods equipped with data access controls, security, and audit trails.

Snowflake Cortex AI is a product family designed to enable the use of AI models in environments where enterprise data is stored. Snowflake stated that it has over 13,900 customers worldwide and that over 13,600 accounts use Snowflake AI products every week. The coding support tool Cortex Code has secured over 7,100 users.

The two companies formed a strategic partnership last December and have been working to integrate the Claude model into Snowflake Cortex AI. With this expanded collaboration, Snowflake customers can utilize the Claude model to apply AI to tasks such as customer support, financial analysis, cybersecurity investigations, and data app development without transferring data externally.

In the enterprise AI market, where data is processed and under what control frameworks it operates are emerging as key criteria, in addition to model performance. Industries handling sensitive data, such as finance, security, and healthcare, have a high demand for utilizing AI while minimizing data movement. The collaboration between Snowflake and Antropic aligns with this trend, focusing on methods to operate AI models within a data platform.

Snowflake anticipates that the demand for generative and agentic AI will lead to increased use of the data cloud. Moving forward, the two companies plan to continue their collaboration in the areas of the cloud marketplace, Cortex code security features, and the deployment of enterprise AI agents.
