Integration of ultra-low latency audio technology into DeepL Voice
Global AI company DeepL is acquiring the team and technology of Mixhalo, a San Francisco-based real-time ultra-low latency audio platform, to strengthen its real-time voice AI capabilities targeting large-scale live environments.
Deep El officially announced the recruitment of the Mix Halo team and technology on the 18th.
The company announced that it is expanding the scope of support to environments requiring speed and stability, such as major events, conferences, and customer support, by integrating MixHalo's ultra-low latency audio infrastructure into its real-time AI voice translation solution, DeepL Voice.
They explained that this allows for the delivery of real-time translated audio and subtitles even at events attended by tens of thousands of people.
Mix Halo is a company co-founded in 2016 by rock band Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger and others, which provides synchronized high-quality audio to thousands of people simultaneously based on ultra-low latency technology.
It is currently being used at sports, entertainment, and brand events such as MLB, NASCAR, Verizon, and T-Mobile, as well as global events such as CES and MWC.
Big Thing“We provide audio to all live audiences with less than 20 milliseconds (ms) of latency, regardless of the size of the event,” said Vik Singh, co-founder of MixHalo. “After testing several technology providers, we found that DeepL provided translations fast and accurate enough to deliver a level of naturalness comparable to real conversation.”
"The MixHalo team has implemented technology that delivers high-quality audio to thousands of people simultaneously with virtually no delay," said Jarek Kutylowski, founder and CEO of DeepL. "Both companies are collaborating with the goal of building a real-time language AI communication infrastructure."
This announcement also included news of DeepL's opening of its first San Francisco branch.
DeepL stated that the United States is the fastest-growing market and that it is strengthening its local business base with the establishment of this office.
The company stated that currently, about 50% of U.S. Fortune 500 companies, including NVIDIA, Cisco, and Nasdaq, are using DeepL.
DeepL and MixHalo have embarked on joint technology commercialization, and the DeepL Voice API currently supports real-time translation features on MixHalo's live audio platform.
Both companies are also piloting use cases in the customer support sector through integration with Amazon Connect.
Meanwhile, DeepL plans to participate as an official translation partner in 'GITEX Europe 2026,' which will be held in Berlin, Germany on the 30th, and provide real-time German-English subtitle services.
