An edutech solution that converts students' writing into four-panel images and audio using generative AI has been deployed in public education settings. SK Telecom (SKT) has partnered with Soonchunhyang University to integrate its self-developed solution 'AI Picture Diary' into an AI and software (SW) education project led by the Ministry of Education, and has set out to spread AX (AI Transformation) in educational settings.

SKT announced on the 3rd that it is providing an AI picture diary for the '2026 Digital Seed Project' being conducted jointly with Soonchunhyang University.

Digital Seedling is an AI and SW education program for students promoted by the Ministry of Education and managed by the Korea Foundation for Science and Creativity, and Soonchunhyang University has been selected as the organizing institution for two consecutive years.

Since May of this year, the two organizations have been operating a program for approximately 4,200 elementary, middle, and high school students in the Gangwon and Chungcheong regions.

The AI Picture Diary is a solution developed to enhance the reading and writing skills of lower elementary school students and students with special educational needs.

When a student inputs daily life or emotions as text, the generative AI analyzes the content and automatically generates images and voice narration for four scenes.

SKT explained that students can directly modify scene titles, dialogue, and images, allowing them to develop their expressive skills through a repetitive editing process rather than passive reception.

A dashboard for teachers has also been installed.

Teachers can check each student's class participation status and diary writing and submission status in real time and use this for individual guidance.

In addition, both institutions support blended online and offline classes by jointly producing a dedicated workbook that combines digital creation and handwriting activities.

In the second semester, a separate course for students with special educational needs, 'A World of Reading and Writing with AI,' is also scheduled to be opened.

This Digital Sprouts curriculum includes △comIt covers cutting-edge technology fields such as computing thinking skills, coding basics, generative AI, autonomous driving, and physical AI.

SKT plans to expand the application scope of AI picture diaries to include student writing and creation, sharing of results, and teacher class management.

"The AI Picture Diary is an AX solution for the educational field that helps students expand their thoughts through text, images, and voice, and enables teachers to utilize that process in their classes," said Kim Koo-young, Head of SKT's Enterprise Business Division. "We will continue to expand edutech cooperation based on 'Warm AI' so that AI technology can support the learning and growth of more students, transcending differences in region and educational conditions."
