Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group), a non-profit international standards development organization that manages Bluetooth technology standards, has established an official corporation in Japan and launched a separate member group. This marks a full-scale strengthening of technology and market cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region based on Japan's member community, which ranks third globally.

 

Bluetooth SIG announced on the 2nd that it has established the official corporation "Bluetooth SIG Japan G.K." in Tokyo, Japan, and simultaneously launched "Bluetooth JMG (Bluetooth Japan Member Group)" to activate collaboration, education, and market development within Japan.

 

Alain Michaud, Chairman of the Bluetooth SIG Board of Directors, stated, "The establishment of a Japan corporation is an important milestone in strengthening long-term support for the Japan market," and added, "We expect to be able to cooperate more closely with member companies and stakeholders in the region."

 

Bluetooth SIG plans to consecutively hold the following in October: △dedicated CEATEC 2026 session △Bluetooth Japan Summit 2026 △Bluetooth JMG kickoff meeting.

 

Bluetooth JMG will allow Bluetooth SIG Promoter and Associate member companies operating in Japan to participate, and membership applications are available through the official Bluetooth SIG website (my.bluetooth.com).

 

Major Japanese companies including Sony Corporation, Panasonic, and Sharp Corporation have also expressed support for Bluetooth SIG's expansion of local activities.
