Infineon Opens New Semiconductor Backend Manufacturing Facility in Thailand…Expanding Production Capacity to Meet AI and Electrification Demand

Establishing a Manufacturing Hub in Bangkok with Potential for Up to 5 Module Expansions
Operating Sustainable Production System Based on 100% Eco-Friendly Power
Infineon Technologies is expanding its global production capacity by establishing a new semiconductor backend manufacturing facility in Thailand.
Infineon announced on the 1st that it has officially inaugurated a new backend manufacturing facility located in Samut Prakan, near Bangkok, Thailand.
This facility serves as a production hub to diversify Infineon's global manufacturing base and address increasing semiconductor demand. In particular, it will play a role in responding to long-term semiconductor demand growth resulting from the expansion of digitalization, electrification, and energy transition.
The new facility currently employs approximately 350 personnel, and the workforce is expected to expand to approximately 1,000 when Module A, the first production facility, begins full-scale operations.
Production Hub Designed for Expansion Up to 5 Modules
The Bangkok manufacturing facility has been designed to accommodate expansion up to 5 production modules in preparation for future demand growth.
Infineon explained that the Bangkok facility has the potential to grow into one of the company's largest backend manufacturing hubs in the future.
The facility is equipped with advanced cleanrooms and automation-based assembly and testing equipment, capable of performing the full range of semiconductor backend processes including wafer testing.
The company plans to leverage its geographic advantage in Southeast Asia and global logistics accessibility to enhance production flexibility and supply stability.
Building Sustainable Manufacturing Based on Eco-Friendly Power
Infineon stated that this facility was constructed with sustainability considered from the design phase.
The factory operates on 100% eco-friendly power and incorporates solar power generation equipment, rainwater collection systems, and water recycling systems.
The company expects this to increase resource efficiency in the production process and support the achievement of carbon emission reduction targets across the entire value chain.
Based on the new manufacturing hub, Infineon plans to strengthen global supply chain competitiveness by addressing customer demand in automotive electrification, industrial semiconductors, and energy transition sectors.
