TI Korea (CEO Kent Chon, www.ti.com/kr) August 4, 2015 – TI (CEO Kent Chon) announced the release of the industry's first 20A and 30A synchronous DC/DC buck converters. These new products feature a PMBus interface to enable Adaptive Voltage Scaling (AVS) and provide frequency synchronization capabilities to reduce noise and EMI/EMC. TI's SWIFT™ 20A TPS544B25 and 30A TPS544C25 converters are available in a compact PowerStack™ QFN package. Additionally, by integrating MOSFETs, they can drive ASICs for space-constrained, high-power-density applications in various markets, including wired and wireless communications, industrial and cloud computing, and data storage systems. When used with TI's award-winning WEBENCH® online design tool, these converters can simplify power conversion and shorten the power supply design process. This highly integrated converter provides 0.5% reference voltage accuracy and features full differential remote voltage sensing to meet the voltage requirements of very fine submicron processors. Additionally, frequency synchronization with an external clock can eliminate bit noise and reduce EMI. In addition, the TPS544B25 and TPS544C25 provide pin-strapping that allows the output voltage to be set and the device to be operated using a single resistor without PMBus commands. Various functions can be programmed via the PMBus interface, and real-time monitoring of output voltage, current, and external temperature, as well as error reporting via PMBus, simplify power supply design and increase reliability while reducing component count and system costs. In addition, TI offers the UCD90240 24-rail PMBus power sequencer and power manager for applications such as industrial Ethernet switches. The TPS544C25 and UCD90240 together form a complete PMBus point-of-load (POL) and sequencing solution. SWIFT buck converters are currently available in bulk through the TI store and authorized TI distributors. The 20A TPS544B25 and 30A TPS544C25 are available in a 40-pin, 5mm x 7mm x 1mm PowerStack QFN package, priced at $4.08 and $4.49, respectively, in quantities of 1,000.
