Verification of integration functions at different layers in the NFV network architecture





Huawei and Wind River announced that they have completed integrated testing of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) network architectures in a multi-vendor environment through their partnership. The test was conducted at the Huawei NFV/SDN Open Lab located in Xi'an, China.

Through this joint study, the two companies verified integration functions implemented at different layers of the NFV network architecture based on Wind River's carrier-grade NFV software platform 'Titanium Server,' which has been verified on Huawei FusionServer E9000, vEPC/vIMS, and MANO.

In this process, 6 application examples and 56 test cases were applied, and verification of all test items was completed, enabling the enhancement of the NFV integrated service experience library.

NFV network architectures are rapidly spreading and being adopted by various telecommunications operators and enterprises. As new types of networks based on NFV technology emerge globally, telecommunications operators are facing significant challenges along with new opportunities. In particular, integrating products from multiple vendors is considered one of the most difficult tasks, as various products adopt different interface standards.

Huawei and Wind River have established a close partnership based on the principles of “Open, Cooperative, and Innovative.” Huawei is utilizing the NFV/SDN Open Lab to foster collaboration with various technology partners, providing more sophisticated NFV technology and supporting telecommunications operators in successfully developing their businesses. Meanwhile, Wind River is expanding its Titanium Cloud partner ecosystem based on proven, pre-integrated hardware and software, enabling telecommunications operators to accelerate time-to-market and telecommunications equipment manufacturers (TEMs) to efficiently build NFV-based infrastructure.
