Convenience greatly enhanced with human detection camera, compatible with Smart ThinQ

LG Electronics has evolved the 'Whisen Dual Air Conditioner' into a representative health appliance used 365 days a year.

LG Electronics unveiled 'Smart Dual Cooling' for the first time, which automatically delivers customized airflow using a human detection camera. With the existing 'Dual Cooling,' users had to manually set the strength and direction of the airflow from the two outlets.

The 'Whisen Dual Air Conditioner' is equipped with a human detection camera that detects the number, location, and activity level of people from a distance of up to 5 meters and within a range of up to 105 degrees to the left and right. By identifying human figures in real-time using the camera to assess the indoor situation, it automatically adjusts the wind speed and direction to provide a whole new level of experience, including 'Smart Dual Customized Cooling,' 'Smart Dual Energy-Saving Cooling,' and 'Smart Dual Power Cooling.'

'Smart Dual Customized Cooling' detects people's locations and automatically adjusts the strength and direction of the airflow from two outlets to deliver the most comfortable air. For example, the 'Whisen Dual Air Conditioner' sends a gentle breeze from one outlet to a person in the living room, while sending a strong breeze from the other outlet to ensure cool air reaches a person in the kitchen, even if they are far away. Additionally, it can be adjusted in left, right, up, and down directions, automatically directing air only to where people are located. Electricity costs are also saved because air is sent only where it is needed.

'Smart Dual Energy-Saving Cooling' detects when there is only one person in the living room and uses only the air outlet facing the person among the two outlets. Because it cools only the necessary space by using only one outlet, it can reduce power consumption by up to 50.3% compared to using both outlets.

'Smart Dual Power Cooling' quickly and powerfully lowers the temperature of specific areas. This feature automatically detects where people are present and concentrates airflow that is 4°C colder than in normal mode. It cools specific areas up to 41% faster and uses approximately 15% less power than when blowing air throughout the entire room.

'365 Smart Air Purification System' for 365-day use

The 'Whisen Dual Air Conditioner' can be used 365 days a year, all year round, even during seasons when cooling is not required, thanks to its air purification and dehumidification functions.

The 'Whisen Dual Air Conditioner' is equipped with a '365 Smart Air Purification System' that detects indoor air conditions and automatically cleans the air even while cooling. This function goes through the following stages: removal of general dust; removal of fine dust, ultrafine dust, and extremely ultrafine dust; removal of household odors and various harmful gases; removal of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), which are smog-causing substances; and removal of viruses and bacteria. The '365 Smart Air Purification System' can remove up to 99.9% of ultrafine dust and has received CAC (Certification Air Conditioner) certification from the Korea Air Purifier Association.

The '365 Smart Air Purification System' features a PM1.0 sensor capable of detecting ultrafine dust particles with a diameter of 1㎛ (micrometer; 1㎛ is 1/1,000,000 m) or less, and a gas sensor that detects odors and harmful gases. It identifies indoor air conditions and the causes of air pollution, notifying users via the display. In particular, when the air conditioner is turned on, the PM1.0 and gas sensors detect the air quality and automatically activate the air purifier function.

Smart Home Service 'SmartThinQ™' First Integration with Whisen Air Conditioners

Starting with the 'Whisen Dual Air Conditioner' launching this year, LG Electronics will integrate it with its smart home service, 'SmartThinQ™'. Users can control the air conditioner using the 'SmartThinQ' application and check indoor air quality, energy consumption, and filter replacement cycles in real time.

Starting this year, LG Electronics plans to connect all smart-function-supported refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, and robot vacuums with 'Smart ThinQ'. Unlike in the past when a separate application was required for each product, user convenience has been enhanced by allowing users to enjoy the smart functions of various products with a single 'Smart ThinQ' application.

LG Electronics H&A Business Division President Cho Seong-jin emphasized, “As the ‘Whisen Dual Air Conditioner’ evolves into a health appliance used 365 days a year, the concept of air conditioners is changing,” adding, “We will lead the premium air conditioner market by consistently launching products that have never been experienced before.”
