Capture with a VR-exclusive camera and enjoy various scenes of the baseball game through your smartphone
Published2016.03.29 19:38KT has ushered in the era of the world's first vivid live baseball 'Virtual Reality (VR)' service.
KT (Chairman Hwang Chang-gyu, www.kt.com) announced on the 28th that it successfully completed the 'GiGA VR' live broadcast of the kt wiz exhibition games held over two days on the 26th and 27th.
The 'GiGA VR' live broadcast service showcased by KT over the two days generates VR video by combining footage captured in real-time by a total of three VR-dedicated cameras installed at first base, third base, and the catcher's position, allowing spectators to watch the VR live broadcast via smartphones. The VR video can be viewed by rotating the 360-degree video with a touch on the smartphone, or by mounting the smartphone on an HMD (Head Mounted Display).
While enjoying the 'GiGA VR' live broadcast, spectators can view not only footage of the players' matches but also the dynamic movements of the cheering squad and various aspects of the players inside the stadium in vivid video from their own seats.
KT plans to offer 'GiGA VR' baseball live broadcasts that can be viewed via smartphones and HMDs during the kt wiz's 2016 regular season home opening series for three days starting April 5. Cardboard VR devices will be provided free of charge to spectators visiting Suwon KT Wiz Park on this day.
Spectators can watch the GiGA VR live broadcast by accessing the 'Olletv Mobile' app and the official KT Wiz app, 'Wizzap'.
In addition to GiGA VR baseball live broadcasts, KT plans to continuously provide a variety of VR content, such as producing VR highlight videos of kt wiz baseball games and offering them on Olleh TV Mobile.
Meanwhile, the GiGA VR service is provided through the cooperation of KT, SPOTV, and VR specialist Mooovr.
