'EMC XtremeIO' Supply to Douzone BizOn's ERP Cloud
Stable high performance, real-time inline deduplication and compression, and powerful snapshot features

EMC Korea (CEO Kim Kyung-jin) is expanding its all-flash target market to the public cloud by supplying 'ExtremeIO,' an all-flash storage solution for cloud services, to Douzone BizOn (CEO Kim Yong-woo), a leading domestic IT company.

Douzone BizOn is the leading company in the domestic market for enterprise information software, including ERP, groupware, and electronic tax invoices. Recently, it has been providing Software as a Service (SaaS) to approximately 10,000 customers exclusively through the public cloud. Douzone’s ERP cloud includes various modules such as accounting, payroll, logistics, daily labor management, and construction site management, and holds the number one market share in the domestic SaaS market, particularly targeting mid-sized and small businesses.

Douzone conducted an evaluation of storage technology capabilities on an unprecedented scale starting in August 2015 as part of a project to expand cloud services and build a high-performance infrastructure that guarantees stable services. In an evaluation conducted with a focus on high performance, efficiency, and stability involving a total of seven companies, EMC’s ExtremeIO recorded 300,000 IOPS (input/output operations per second) based on mixed workload, being the only one to achieve the performance guaranteed by the sales team in actual testing.


EMC ExtremeIO was ultimately selected as Douzone Cloud's all-flash storage by performing deduplication and compression in real-time and demonstrating consistent high performance at every moment the operation is in progress.

By adopting ExtremeIO, Douzone was able to accelerate its cloud services through this project. In particular, by upgrading systems for tax and accounting firms, which require exceptionally large capacity and I/O frequencies, the company was able to reduce overall system load and manage resources flexibly. Customer satisfaction also increased significantly as the speed of allocating virtual machines (VMs) to new customers and migrating data became four times faster than before.

Profitability was also improved through cost reduction. Throughput per virtual machine (VM) was significantly increased through real-time inline deduplication and compression, along with powerful snapshot capabilities. The burden of initial infrastructure setup costs was alleviated through EMC Korea's 'Open Scale' program. Douzone initially introduced only 40 terabytes (TB) of ExtremeIO capacity, and then reduced the cost burden by introducing an additional 20 TB at a predetermined reasonable cost about 1 year and 6 months later.
