Announcement of New 4K/UHD Diagnostic Tool and Closed Caption Analyzer
Seamless Transition Through Industry's First END-TO-END HEVC Test Solution

Tektronix has recently announced the industry's first comprehensive HEVC test solution that provides in-depth insights into 4K workflows and enables seamless 4K transition for broadcasters, cable operators, and other service providers.

This new test and measurement product will be demonstrated at booth SU5006 at the NAB Show held in Las Vegas from April 18-21.
Delivering 4K content to consumer homes is a challenging transition. Operators must ensure that the encoders they use operate properly, content complies with regulatory requirements, and delivers the highest Quality of Experience (QoE) to end customers.

Through newly added products on the MTS4000 and MTS4SAV3 test platforms, which include a closed caption analyzer to ensure FCC compliance and comprehensive HEVC analysis tools, operators can conveniently transition to 4K while minimizing the impact on workflows, infrastructure, personnel, and budgets.

Charlie Dunn, Vice President of Tektronix Video Product Line, states, "It is certain that 4K workflow transition will take place over several years, but the question is when it will happen. At the same time, as new requirements for mixed HD and 4K service are being added, ensuring compliance with FCC regulations has become more complex than ever," and adds, "We are leading the industry with the launch of new 4K and closed caption measurement products, and are strengthening support for our customers through the challenging 4K transition process."

In addition to the launch of HEVC products for content distribution, Tektronix is adding functionality to support HEVC transport streams for 4K testing in set-top boxes (STB) and customized 4K. Now manufacturers can use MTS4000 to generate 4K transport streams from system information tables and elementary streams with customized parameters.

MTS4000 provides comprehensive transport stream analysis and interoperability testing. In-depth analysis of transport streams, PES, and elementary streams helps trace and identify the source of on-screen anomalies and identify transport streams with syntax errors. The ability to capture events for deep troubleshooting is a critical factor in identifying the root cause of problems.

MTS4SAV3 includes a dedicated closed caption analysis version of the more comprehensive MTS4EAV7 software, providing a highly cost-effective solution for broadcasters for whom FCC compliance testing is a primary concern.
