Equipping hyper-converged infrastructure with V-NAND flash
Achieving a lower price per gigabyte compared to hybrid flash

EMC Korea (CEO Kim Kyung-jin) has introduced all-flash to its hyper-converged infrastructure, launching the all-flash version of VxRail. Equipped with the latest 3D V-NAND, the all-flash VxRail leverages EMC's advanced data reduction technology to dramatically lower the price per gigabyte.

VxRail, jointly announced by EMC and VMware earlier this year, is a hyper-converged appliance that streamlines IT operations and enhances agility through unified management. It integrates virtualization software, servers, storage, and data protection capabilities into a single system, enabling the easiest and fastest implementation of a VMware-optimized software-defined data center (SDDC) environment.

EMC, which declared 2016 the "Year of All-Flash," recently announced its all-flash VxRail, offering up to 76.6 terabytes of storage in a single appliance. Based on the latest high-density 3D V-NAND technology, it features a 3.84-terabyte SSD, achieving a price per gigabyte equivalent to hybrid drives based on physical capacity.

Furthermore, data protection features such as erasure coding, deduplication, and compression can improve capacity efficiency by approximately 60%, resulting in additional cost savings. It can be freely expanded in a scale-out manner, and a 64-node all-flash cluster provides the industry's largest capacity for hyper-converged systems with 1,792 cores and 1,216 terabytes of physical capacity.

Meanwhile, VxRail is leading the hyper-converged appliance market, selling in 45 countries within just four months of its launch. Suitable for small and medium-sized data centers and enterprise-level operations, it features simplicity, automation, and rationality, backed by high reliability. Its non-disruptive scalability from a handful of virtual machines (VMs) to thousands of VMs facilitates systematic infrastructure expansion as business grows. Another key factor in its popularity is its ability to provide mission-critical data services, such as enterprise-grade replication, backup, recovery, and cloud tiering, at no additional cost, such as EMC RecoverPoint for VMs.
