DMB Technology (CEO Tae-ha Ryu) is a fabless power semiconductor company based on the BCD process.

DMB Technology, a leader in the domestic market and technology in the power semiconductor sector, plans to enter a full-fledged growth period based on successful entry into overseas markets in 2016.

The company's main products include digital audio power amplifier ICs for DTVs and direct AC drive ICs for LED lighting. In 2007, it mass-produced the first BCD-based power IC in Korea. BCD refers to a process of manufacturing three types of semiconductor devices, including Bipolar, CMOS, and DMOS, on a single silicon wafer. Based on this, in 2013, it mass-produced the first 700V BCD-based LED lighting drive IC in Korea. In 2015, it developed a full digital amplifier IC.



Accordingly, it also has many of its own technologies. It has secured Real Digital Feedback Audio Amp IC technology and Direct AC LED lighting IC technology, and has 21 registered or pending patents.

Plans to increase sales by switching to full chip supply format

In particular, digital audio amplifiers have domestic major companies as well as famous overseas companies such as TCL, Hisense, and Hier as their customers. These customers account for 58% (140 million units) of the global TV market this year. DMB Tech has exceeded 1 billion cumulative power amplifier IC supply from 2009 to last year, and its strategy is to increase sales by switching from power amplifier IC supply to full chip supply starting next year.

In the LED lighting market, driver ICs account for 26% of the LED chip market, which brightens DMB Tech’s outlook. Last year, the company’s direct AC drive IC supply reached 5.2 billion won and is expanding its supply to major lighting companies in the Americas.

“We are securing foundry competitiveness by entering the overseas audio amplifier IC market and exclusively supplying Seoul Semiconductor’s Acrich lighting driver ICs,” said Tae-ha Ryu, CEO of DMB Technology. “Based on this, we recorded 19.3 billion won in 2015, a 40% growth from the previous year, and plan to achieve 50 billion won in sales by 2018.”
