Introduction to efficient SW development methods and technologies for quality improvement.

A seminar on SW development and quality improvement to strengthen medical device export competitiveness will be held on the 16th, hosted by the Korea Medical Device Industry Association (Chairman Hwang Hui, www.kmdia.or.kr) and sponsored by MDS Technology (CEO Lee Sang-heon, www.mdstec.com).

The global medical device market is expected to continue growing, driven by recent trends in medical IT convergence and an aging population. The role of software in medical devices is growing increasingly important worldwide. Furthermore, due to the life-threatening nature of medical devices, regulations regarding software reliability and safety are becoming increasingly stringent. While Korean medical device companies are increasing their investment in software, their export competitiveness remains weak compared to their counterparts in advanced economies.

Accordingly, the Korea Medical Device Industry Association and MDS Technology, which provides consulting and solutions necessary for the entire SW development process, are holding a seminar to share the latest technologies and application cases that can efficiently develop SW and improve its quality.

This seminar will introduce the SW development process required by the international standard IEC 62304 to ensure the quality of medical devices, as well as examples of its actual application. Additionally, the Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) will present testing and verification methods to improve the quality of medical device software.

“As various advanced functions in medical devices are being implemented through SW, the role and importance of SW are increasing, and regulations on SW are also becoming stronger,” said Woo Jun-seok, Executive Director of Business at MDS Technology. “Korean medical device companies must also pay attention to the quality of SW and utilize advanced technologies to increase development efficiency to secure competitiveness on par with advanced companies in the global market.”

This seminar is hosted by the Korea Medical Devices Industry Association and sponsored by MDS Technology. It will be held free of charge on the 16th at Melon Hall on the 5th floor of Spotime in Yangjae-dong.
