LG webOS 3.5 Evolves from "TV to Watch" to "TV to Enjoy"
'My Button' enhances usability by utilizing Magic Remote number buttons as shortcuts

LG Electronics plans to unveil the advanced 'webOS 3.5' for the first time at CES 2017 in Las Vegas, USA, early next month, and equip it in smart TVs to be released next year.

LG Electronics has equipped webOS 3.5 with a large number of 'fun features' that allow users to properly enjoy smart TVs.

LG Electronics has maximized user convenience by adding a 'My Button' feature that allows the Magic Remote's number buttons to be used like phone speed dial numbers. By long-pressing a number button, users can connect directly to a designated app or channel without opening the home screen. Up to nine shortcuts can be assigned, ranging from number 1 to 9.

LG Electronics has added a new 'Magic Link' feature to webOS 3.5 to reduce the inconvenience of the existing search method of entering keywords. In webOS 3.5, the Magic Remote is equipped with a dedicated 'Magic Link button' that allows you to find content related to the program you are watching with a single click.

For example, if a user presses the dedicated Magic Link button while watching TV, they can find various content such as YouTube videos, TV channels, and character information related to the program's EPG (Electronic Program Guide).

'360-degree PLAY', which allows you to enjoy 360-degree content on a large screen

LG Electronics has added a recording function to its 'Magic Zoom' feature, which allows users to zoom in on specific parts of a broadcast screen. 'Magic Zoom Recording' enables users to zoom in and record only the desired portion of video stored on a USB drive or external hard drive. For example, in a video featuring an idol group, users can zoom in and record only their favorite member.

LG Electronics has also added a '360-degree PLAY' feature to webOS 3.5, allowing users to view content shot with a 360-degree camera on a TV screen. Users can store content captured with a 360-degree camera on a USB drive or external hard drive and connect it to a TV to enjoy the content on a large screen. Users can drag the screen using the Magic Remote to move around and zoom in and out using the Wheel key.
