Samsung Supplies 130 LTE-Enabled Gear S3s

SATS, which provides ground services for Singapore Changi Airport, decided to use the Samsung Gear S3 for the work of its ground staff.

Samsung Electronics partnered with SATS and supplied 130 Gear S3 units that support LTE communication capabilities.


With the Gear S3, which is equipped with LTE communication capabilities for independent communication, ground staff can check their daily work schedule and receive instructions for the next task in real time after completing the work in progress.

Ground staff receive and handle various types of ground tasks, such as towing, site management, and in-flight catering during aircraft takeoffs and landings, from the Control Room (Technical Ramp Operations Control Room).

Until now, ground staff had to check paper-printed work schedules one by one, and when schedules changed, they had to print out new ones to announce them, which inevitably slowed down their work speed. However, with the Gear S3, which allows for real-time connectivity, they can expect improved work efficiency.

In addition, connecting the Gear S3 to a Bluetooth headset allows users to work with both hands free, which is expected to significantly improve work efficiency.
