MapR Technologies Releases Latest Version of MapR Ecosystem Pack

MapR Technologies announced version 2.0 of the MapR Ecosystem Pack, which enhances compatibility between open source projects.
The MapR Ecosystem Pack program enables the implementation of large-scale data applications running on the MapR Converged Data Platform while ensuring compatibility across various open source ecosystem projects. These enhancements add flexible data access capabilities and provide new capabilities for streaming applications.
The MapR Ecosystem Pack is said to free customers from the complexity of having to individually manage versions of various open source community project tools.
MapR supports the development, testing, and integration of open source ecosystem projects such as Apache Drill, Spark, Parquet, Hive, and Myriad. The new MapR Ecosystem Pack version 2.0 adds the following features:
Supports Kafka REST API and Kafka Connect, and supports Spark 2.0.1. Also, it comes with Drill 1.9 and MapR Installer Stanza.
“MaprR is always striving to provide customers with immediate access to the latest tools they need to succeed in their big data environments,” said Will Ochandarena, senior director of product management at MapR Technologies. “Spark and Drill are two of the most widely adopted and used open source ecosystem projects, and this MapR Ecosystem Pack 2.0 makes it easier and more reliable for customers to deploy Spark and Drill in their production environments.”

Big Data Investment Increases, But Signs of Slowing Growth Appear
가트너(Gartner Inc.)에서 최근 발표한 설문조사 결과에 따르면, 빅데이터(big data) 투자 규모는 계속해서 증가하고 있지만, 위축 징후도 나타나고 있다고 밝혔다. 가트너는 설문에 응답한 전체 기업 중 48%(전년 대비 3% 증가)가 2016년에 빅데이터 부문 투자를 늘린 것으로 나타났다고 밝혔다. 그러나, 향후 2년 내 투자할 계획을 가지고 있다고 응답한 기업은 2015년 대비 6% 하락한 25%로 나타났다.

Sailpoint has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with AWS and is moving forward with establishing an integrated governance system that manages both human and non-human identities together. Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
