Providing faster and more accurate verification solutions with Chiaro's Cloudburst sensor and WebScansa solution

Cognex acquired Chiaro Technologies and WebScan to expand its 3D vision market. With this, it completed the acquisition of four technology companies in the 3D vision and industrial ID sectors during the past year.

Last November, we acquired Chiaro Technologies, a Colorado-based company. Chiaro Technologies is a manufacturer of Cloudburst 3D machine vision sensors. The high-speed, real-time 3D image streaming provided by Cloudburst sensors is useful for applications where speed is critical. Cloudburst sensors provide complementary technology to Cognex's high-performance 3D sensors currently used in 3D vision applications.



Subsequently, Cognex also acquired WebScan in December 2016. This company is a provider of barcode verification solutions and is located in Longmont, Colorado. Using WebScan's solutions, manufacturers can verify that barcodes marked on packages, parts, and accessories are correctly applied and comply with industry standards before shipping goods.
