Konus Improves Smart Toilet Systems with IL Science

Konus, a company specializing in ICT convergence technology, announced that it has improved its IoT-based smart toilet system by applying silicone lenses from its partner, IL Science.

The improved product features a silicone lens applied to the indicator component that displays the occupancy status of the smart restroom, adding advantages such as extended lifespan by preventing product deterioration and improved aesthetics through the even dispersion of light.
Knus's IoT smart restroom is a system based on wireless human detection technology that identifies the occupancy of each stall and displays the status on the entrance and the door of each stall. Occupancy is indicated by a monitor and LED indicators.
Currently, installation has been completed at 35 highway rest area toilets, including those in Munmak, Wonju, Gangneung, Gapyeong, and Sacheon, and distribution is being expanded to public facilities such as SRT and the Racecourse.

The selected products include two types of LED street lights (100W, 150W) and three types of LED security lights (30W, 50W, 60W). Silicon lenses developed with proprietary technology have been applied, and compared to existing plastic (PC) or acrylic (PMMA) lens products, the advantages are △shorter manufacturing period (2 weeks required, 75% reduction) and △lower cost (50% savings).

IoT smart restrooms appearing at highway rest areas
Cornus (CEO Park Chang-sik), a specialized IoT smart energy-saving system company, has completed the installation of IoT smart restrooms at Moonmak rest area on the Yeongdong Expressway, as well as Seomjingang rest area and Manghyang rest area, following an order from Korea Expressway Corporation. Cornus's IoT smart restroom is a system based on wireless human presence detection technology that accurately identifies whether users are present in each stall within the restroom and displays the status on the restroom entrance and each stall door. User presence is indicated through a monitoring device (DID, Digital Information Display) and LEDs. This sensor-based system approach is the first of its kind in Korea, and a patent application has been recently filed.
