High-sensitivity CCD image sensor released that provides video previews with low storage capacity
Enhancing patient safety concerns regarding digital radiography

ON Semiconductor has launched a CCD image sensor that produces video images with minimal X-rays. It enhances patient safety by minimizing X-ray exposure, a concern during radiation imaging.

The newly released KAF-09001 image sensor features high-sensitivity, low-noise 12-micron pixels, similar to the existing KAF-09000 model used for digital radiography. In addition, it provides a full-resolution frame rate increased by up to 10 times by adding output for a high-sensitivity video mode.



"The KAF-09001 provides enhanced functionality without additional cost while maintaining the high sensitivity of digital radiation systems," said Herb Erhardt, an official at ON Semiconductor. "We look forward to developing and providing the latest image sensors needed not only by us but also by the industrial market."

KAF-09001 is currently available in standard and engineering grade ROHS-compliant CERDIP-60 packages with built-in CuW cooling plates. This device is available in both sealed and tape glass configuration modes in monochrome spectral sensitivity.
