VMWare's revenue increased 9% year-over-year.
Published2017.06.02 11:01VMware's total revenue for the first quarter of fiscal 2018 was $1.74 billion, up 9% year-over-year. Operating income was $238 million, and net income was $232 million, up 24% and 48% year-over-year, respectively.
“VMware achieved meaningful growth momentum in the first quarter through various partnerships with Dell EMC, Google, Microsoft, and Oracle,” said Pat Gelsinger, CEO of VMware. “In the second quarter, we will continue to support customers’ successful digital transformation through our innovative portfolio of products and services encompassing the software-defined data center (SDDC), cloud, and digital workspace.”

VMware supports virtual desktop and application deployment on Azure
VMware가 마이크로소프트의 엔터프라이즈급 클라우드 컴퓨팅 플랫폼 애저(Azure)를 위한 Horizon Cloud 지원을 발표했다. Horizon Cloud는 단일 클라우드 컨트롤 플레인을 기반으로 가상 데스크톱과 애플리케이션의 배포 및 관리를 위한 인프라를 자유롭게 선택할 수 있는 클라우드 서비스다. 고객은 VMware의 크로스 클라우드 전략에 따라 다양한 구축 옵션을 선택할 수 있고, 용도 변경, 직원 이동, 자본환경의 변화에 따라 유동적으로 옵션을 변경할 수 있다. 또한, 인프라를 빠른 확장과 비용 예측이 가능한 DaaS(Desktop-as-a-service) 기반의 클라우드 상에서 관리할 수 있고, 하이퍼 컨버지드 인프라(Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, 이하 HCI) 어플라이언스를 온프레미스 형태의 인프라에 도입해 사내 가상 데스크톱 인프라(VDI) 환경을 제어하고 보호할 수 있다.

VMware Cloud Forum is an annual event hosted by VMware for enterprises, customers, public institutions, and partners, serving as a venue to present corporate IT innovation strategies and share the latest cloud and data center information. This year, VMware will present the theme of "Modernize Your Data Center," showcasing the latest infrastructure construction strategies, case studies, and IT process automation methods. At this event, VMware Korea President In-ho Jeon will deliver a presentation on data center modernization approaches, which are emerging as essential elements for corporate business innovation. Following this, Matthew Berry, VMware Senior Systems Engineer, will introduce software-defined data center (SDDC) strategies that enhance efficiency and security. Additionally, expert and partner sessions covering topics such as security enhancement through network virtualization and evolved hybrid cloud solutions, as well as customer case presentation sessions, have been prepared. SalePoint Signs Multi-Year Partnership Agreement with AWS… Promoting Identity Security that Integrates Even AI Agents
Sailpoint has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with AWS and is moving forward with establishing an integrated governance system that manages both human and non-human identities together. The plan is to consistently manage access permissions in an environment where AI agents are increasing as work execution entities, while applying the principle of least privilege and automated policy enforcement. The two companies plan to jointly expand capabilities to manage the identities of various entities, including AI agents, within a single layer in the AWS environment. This collaboration is interpreted as a move to design security and governance together in corporate environments where AI adoption is expanding.

Databricks Unveils Open AI Security Monitoring 'Lakewatch'
Databricks entered the security market on March 24 by unveiling LakeWatch, an open-source agentic SIEM. The core functionality of this product is to integrate and analyze security, IT, and business data in a single environment to support AI-based threat detection and investigation. The company explained that it reduces the limitations of existing security operations centers, which have had to forgo some data due to high cost structures, and enables large-scale data analysis and automation based on open formats and ecosystems. LakeWatch is currently offered as a private preview, with Adobe and Dropbox mentioned as early customers. Databricks also announced an expanded partnership with Anthropic as well as the acquisition of Antimatter and SiftD.ai.
