KT is the first telecommunications company to introduce electric vehicles as business vehicles.

On the afternoon of the 11th, KT signed a 'Business Agreement for Expanding the Eco-Friendly Electric Vehicle Market' with Hyundai Motor Company and Lotte Rental at the KT Gwanghwamun office building and decided to fully introduce electric vehicles for business use.

Under this agreement, KT plans to begin introducing 1,000 Hyundai Ioniqs to its business sites in the second half of this year, and replace approximately 10,000 vehicles with electric vehicles by 2022. It also plans to sequentially build charging infrastructure at approximately 400 KT offices nationwide.



The three companies pledged to actively participate in the government's eco-friendly policies, contributing to improving public health by reducing fine dust and actively cooperating on future IT and mobility innovations to help usher in an era of eco-friendly vehicles. Furthermore, they aim to expand charging infrastructure, a key foundation for electric vehicle use, to enhance customer accessibility. In addition to their collaboration in the electric vehicle business, KT and Hyundai Motor Company are also collaborating in the connected car business, including AI and 5G.

KT Mass General Manager Lim Heon-moon said, “By replacing business vehicles with electric vehicles, we will lead the way in eco-friendly services with zero fine dust and zero carbon emissions in the future,” and “Through cooperation among the three companies, we will create synergy in expanding the charging infrastructure business and promoting the 5G-based future automobile business.”
