Samsung Electronics will participate in the "2017 Korea Energy Show 2017" held at KINTEX in Ilsan from the 19th to 22nd, showcasing an Internet of Things (IoT) technology-based "smart building solution 'b.IoT'" that maximizes energy efficiency, along with various air conditioning products.

'b.IoT' is Samsung Electronics' B2B solution that integrates diverse facilities such as air conditioning, lighting, networks, and security into a single system based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology to efficiently support building operations.

With a "wireless IoT AP (Access Point)" supporting WiFi, Bluetooth, and Zigbee communication, key devices such as sensors, CCTV, and smart controllers required for building management can be integrated, reducing initial investment costs compared to wired methods, and applying various "energy-saving algorithms" for different situations also delivers significant energy savings effects.

In addition to heating and cooling that takes into account hourly electricity rates, data-driven control is possible, enabling climate data analysis, calculation of comfortable temperatures considering occupants' clothing and activity levels, and prevention of excessive heating and cooling, allowing energy consumption to be reduced by up to 25% compared to when the algorithm is not applied.

For example, educational and industrial buildings using "time-of-use pricing" experience significant electricity rate differences depending on the season and specific time periods, so during time slots with lower rates, high-efficiency operation controls indoor temperature, and during time slots with higher rates, control focuses on maintaining temperature with minimal energy, reducing energy consumption.

Samsung Electronics plans to launch the smart building solution 'b.IoT' within this year.

In addition, Samsung Electronics also showcases "Energy Storage System (ESS)" which is effective in reducing power consumption. Heating and cooling equipment using energy storage systems store electricity during the late-night hours when electricity rates are cheap, and enable its use during peak hours when power is relatively expensive and most needed, making it suitable for restaurants and cafes with high heating and cooling power consumption.

Furthermore, Samsung Electronics displayed various lineups including "bladeless air conditioner" that cools without direct air blast, and "System Air Conditioner 360" which is gaining popularity in the Southeast Asian B2B market with design that suits any space and air flow control technology that distributes cool air uniformly.
