SK Telecom announced on the 26th that its 'T Roaming Korea-China-Japan Pass' rate plan, launched for customers visiting China and Japan, surpassed 100,000 users in just 50 days.

'T Roaming Korea-China-Japan Pass' is a region-specific roaming plan launched by SK Telecom in early September, reflecting customer usage patterns and offering 1GB of data and low-cost calls and texts for 25,000 won (about 5,000 won per day) for 5 days. It was developed based on the observation that approximately 51% of outbound travelers visit China and Japan.

SK Telecom analyzed the roaming usage patterns of customers visiting China and Japan and found that 7 out of 10 T Roaming users who visited China and Japan used the 'T Roaming Korea-China-Japan Pass' after its launch.

In particular, it was found that more than half of them were new customers who had no prior experience using roaming services.

According to SK Telecom’s analysis, customers visiting China and Japan also have a need for calls, with an average of 4.5 days of roaming, 74% of the total using less than 1GB of data, and an average of 12 minutes of voice calls per person.

The T Roaming Korea-China-Japan Pass was designed to accurately reflect these actual customer usage patterns. For 25,000 won for 5 days, you can enjoy benefits such as 1GB of data (if the 1GB is used up, you can continue using it at a speed of 200kbps or less), free text messaging, and making and receiving voice calls (220 won/minute, excluding calls to third countries).

SK Telecom stated that it is receiving a positive response, with voice call usage increasing by up to twofold, thanks to a rate of 220 won per minute, which is up to 1/10 cheaper than when not subscribed to a roaming plan.

Meanwhile, thanks to the high popularity of the 'T Roaming Korea-China-Japan Pass,' SK Telecom has decided to extend the double data promotion, originally scheduled to run only until the end of this October, until the end of the year. As a result, customers using the 'T Roaming Korea-China-Japan Pass' until December 31 of this year will be able to receive 2GB of data, which is double the basic data allowance.

SK Telecom’s Head of Division Kim Woong-ki stated, “Region-specific roaming plans, which are more convenient and affordable compared to existing roaming plans, are receiving a positive response,” adding, “We plan to do our best to sequentially expand region-specific roaming plans to Southeast Asia and the Americas so that more than 90% of domestic travelers can enjoy the benefits of affordable plans.”
