NVIDIA and the Taiwanese government are working together to accelerate AI development.
Published2017.10.30 08:25NVIDIA announced that it will work with Taiwan's Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence in the commercial sector. This is being carried out in support of the “Grand Plan for Fostering Artificial Intelligence Industry” recently announced by Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology.
This announcement, made at the Artificial Intelligence Symposium during the GPU Technology Conference, aims to develop a platform that can accelerate AI research and industrial applications, reaching 4 petaflops of performance by 2018, putting it in the top 25 of the world's top 500 list of fastest supercomputers, and achieving 10 petaflops within four years.
“Taiwan was the epicenter of the PC revolution and will serve as a major center for the next industrial revolution driven by AI,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA. “We are excited to work closely with Taiwan’s Ministry of Science and Technology to further unleash the power of this new scientific and technological revolution in Taiwan.”
Dr. Liang-Gee Chen, Minister of Science and Technology of Taiwan, also said, “AI is the key to driving Taiwan’s next industrial revolution, and Taiwan’s long-established IT manufacturing capabilities serve as a solid foundation for it.” He added, “The Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan is focusing on creating a new industrial ecosystem based on AI innovation by inducing academia, industry, and young talents to participate in the AI grand plan.”
At this Taiwan AI Symposium, where Taiwanese industry professionals gathered, NVIDIA announced plans to promote AI in Taiwan through five projects with the Ministry of Science and Technology of Taiwan. Under this agreement, the National HPC Center will develop the NVIDIA® DGX™ AI computing platform and GPUs based on the Volta architecture.It was announced that Taiwan will build its first ever artificial intelligence-focused supercomputer based on this.
In this regard, Taiwan's Ministry of Science and Technology announced that it plans to provide Taiwan's robotics experts with access to NVIDIA DGX Station™ AI personal supercomputers and NVIDIA Jetson™ TX2 AI modules through the Central and Southern Science Parks.

엔비디아, 딥 러닝 가속화를 위한 AI 클라우드 컨테이너 레지스트리 서비스 개시
엔비디아가 전 세계 AI 개발자들을 위한 엔비디아 GPU 클라우드(NVIDIA GPU Cloud, 이하 NGC) 컨테이너 레지스트리의 서비스 개시를 발표했다. 개발자들은 비용 부담 없이 간단한 과정만으로 NGC를 통해 완전히 최적화된 편리한 종합 딥 러닝 소프트웨어 스택을 곧바로 사용할 수 있다. 특히, 최근 발표된 엔비디아 테슬라(NVIDIA Tesla) V100 GPU를 탑재한 아마존 엘라스틱 컴퓨트 클라우드(Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, EC2) P3 인스턴스의 사용자들은 본 클라우드 기반 서비스를 즉시 이용할 수 있다. 엔비디아는 타 클라우드 플랫폼에 대해서도 조만간 지원을 확대할 계획이다.
