Introducing AI into medical imaging devices to accelerate medical data processing.

NVIDIA and GE Healthcare, continuing a close partnership for 10 years, announced that they will bring cutting-edge artificial intelligence to 500,000 GE Healthcare medical imaging devices worldwide to accelerate medical data processing.

Announced at the 103rd Annual Scientific Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), the partnership includes the launch of the new Revolution Frontier CT powered by NVIDIA technology, enhancements to the Vivid E95 4D Ultrasound, and the development of GE Healthcare's Applied Intelligence analytics platform.

The new CT system, added to the Revolution product line, utilizes the NVIDIA AI computing platform to deliver image processing speeds approximately twice as fast as previous models. The FDA-approved Revolution Frontier is expected to deliver improved clinical outcomes in liver disease detection and kidney lesion analysis due to its fast processing speed. It is expected to reduce the possibility of unnecessary follow-up measures, provide several benefits to patients with renal failure with weakened immune function, and reduce the number of uninterpretable images using GSI MAR.

NVIDIA, a pioneer in AI across diverse fields such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, and video analytics, plans to collaborate with GE Healthcare to further expand the application of AI in healthcare. GPU-accelerated deep learning solutions can be used to design sophisticated neural networks for a wide range of healthcare applications, from real-time patient assessments to point-of-care medical interventions and predictive analytics for clinical decision-making. This partnership will enable patients to expect reduced radiation exposure, faster examination times, and improved image quality.

A typical hospital generates up to 50 petabytes of data annually, including medical imaging, clinical records and sensors, and operational and financial tasks. However, less than 3 percent of this data is usable, classified, and analyzed. NVIDIA and GE Healthcare aim to make AI adoption a reality in healthcare by combining powerful applications, cutting-edge medical equipment, and the rapid processing speed of GPUs to leverage this data.
