NVIDIA Provides GPU and Technology Support to KISTI for HPC and AI Research
Published2017.12.07 11:23NVIDIA is providing the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), which has demonstrated outstanding technical achievements in the fields of High Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with NVIDIA GPUs for testing free of charge and offering remote support for NVIDIA's latest technologies, including the V100.
NVIDIA explained the background, stating that after reviewing the working relationship between the two parties and the collaborative projects between the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and KISTI, it highly valued the achievements KISTI has demonstrated in the fields of HPC and AI research and decided to support future research activities. In particular, it was highly praised for KISTI’s leadership in the application of HPC and AI in the field of weather and climate prediction research, and for demonstrating the potential of GPUs in the development of high-performance and highly scalable models to cope with extreme weather caused by climate change.
NVIDIA anticipates that parallel computing can bring groundbreaking advancements to the performance, energy efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of HPC, and has been collaborating with various research institutions.
The two achievements of KISTI that NVIDIA noted are demonstrating the potential to actively utilize GPU-based system architectures in real-life applications, and showing the excellence of GPU optimization technology by applying GPU-based systems to the simulation of the Earth system.
The research support provided by NVIDIA to KISTI includes the free provision of four P100 GPUs, remote access to GPU technologies such as the V100 located at NVIDIA headquarters, access to the CUDA software environment, and engineering technical support.
NVIDIA plans to actively leverage the potential of GPU-based solutions in the field of weather and climate prediction research through continuous collaboration with KISTI.

NVIDIA and GE Accelerate AI Adoption in Healthcare
엔비디아는 10년간 긴밀한 파트너십을 이어온 GE 헬스케어(GE Healthcare)와 함께 전 세계 50만 대의 GE 헬스케어 의료 영상 기기에 최첨단 인공지능을 도입해 의료 데이터 처리 속도를 가속화한다고 발표했다. 제 103차 북미방사선학회(Radiological Society of North America, RSNA) 연례 학술대회에서 발표된 이번 파트너십의 내용에는 엔비디아 기술 기반의 새로운 레볼루션 프론티어 CT(Revolution Frontier CT) 발표, 비비드 E95 4D 초음파 장비(Vivid E95 4D Ultrasound) 성능 개선 및 GE 헬스케어의 어플라이드 인텔리전스(Applied Intelligence) 분석 플랫폼의 개발 등이 있다.

NVIDIA Expands GPU Cloud Support
엔비디아가 데스크톱 GPU를 사용하는 수십만 인공 지능 개발자들을 위해 엔비디아 타이탄(NVIDIA TITAN)에서 엔비디아 GPU 클라우드(NVIDIA GPU Cloud, NGC) 지원을 확장한다고 밝혔다. 또한, 신규 소프트웨어 및 NGC 컨테이너 레지스트리 주요 업데이트 등 추가된 NGC 기능들을 발표했다. 이를 통해 엔비디아는 인공 지능 개발자들에게 인공 지능, 고성능 컴퓨팅(HPC) 연구 및 개발을 향상시킬 수 있는 보다 광범위하고 강력한 도구를 제공할 수 있게 됐다.
