LG Uplus to Provide Wired and Wireless Communication Infrastructure at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2
Published2018.01.18 17:09LG Uplus announced that it has completed construction of the airport wired and wireless communication infrastructure within Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 2 and will begin full-scale service in time for its opening.
The wired and wireless communication infrastructure provided by LG U+ is characterized by its design to efficiently exchange information between passenger terminals, transportation centers, and auxiliary buildings and to flexibly respond to environmental changes through the construction of high-quality, optimal communication room facilities.
The airport network and external wired and wireless communications also provide seamless security through the introduction of next-generation ALL-IP-based equipment and network separation.
In particular, the TRS wireless environment has enabled smooth response to emergency situations by linking portable/fixed radios and the national disaster network without any blind spots. Control facilities have also been implemented, allowing the airport operation center to effectively understand information and communication resources and airport operation management.
The announcement broadcasting equipment, which is important for airport operation, was installed within the second passenger terminal, taking into account the passenger flow and fire zone, to increase clarity and transmittance, enabling flight information and fire alarm broadcasts to be quickly transmitted to all airport personnel. In addition, video/clock facilities have been implemented to provide airport users with UHD video services and accurate standard time information.
LG Uplus formed a consortium with POSCO ICT and Myeongshin Information & Communications and began the 'Incheon International Airport Phase 3 Airport Communications Facility Purchase/Installation Project' in November 2014, completing construction in November of last year.
Meanwhile, LG U+ has opened three overseas roaming customer centers open 24/7 in the arrival hall on the first floor and the departure hall on the third floor of the newly opened Incheon International Airport Terminal 2, allowing customers traveling abroad to conveniently use the roaming service.

LG Uplus' AI Agent 'U-Bot' Surpasses 120,000 Users in Just Two Weeks
LG Uplus announced that the number of users of 'U Bot', an AI-based consulting service, surpassed 120,000 in just two weeks. 'U Bot', a conversational chatbot capable of natural language recognition, recorded 120,000 cumulative users and 150,000 consultation cases in just 13 days after launch. It gained positive response from users by smoothly handling an average of 10,500 customer consultations per day. 'U Bot' is an artificial intelligence chatbot that provides 24/7 consulting services via PC or mobile. Users can access the consulting service regardless of device by visiting the LG Uplus website.

LG Uplus Commercializes NB-IoT-Based City Gas Pipeline Management System
LG Uplus announced that it has established a smart pipeline management system based on NB-IoT with Samcheonri, a comprehensive energy company, and has commenced commercial service. The establishment of an industrial management service utilizing NB-IoT technology had undergone pilot operation for three months from August of last year in some areas of Samcheonri's city gas supply zone. The smart pipeline management system is a solution that enables remote monitoring of pipeline conditions and analyzes collected data to supply city gas more efficiently and reliably.

European Patent Applications Surpass 200,000 for the First Time… South Korea Maintains 5th Place, Led by Batteries and Telecommunications
According to the European Patent Office (EPO)'s 'Technology Dashboard 2025', European patent applications last year reached 201,974, surpassing 200,000 for the first time. Korean companies and inventors filed 14,355 applications, representing a 9.5% increase from the previous year and maintaining 5th place by country. Battery, digital communication, and semiconductor technologies led the growth, with Samsung ranking as the top EPO applicant for the second consecutive year and LG reaching 3rd place. The presence of major domestic cities such as Seoul, Suwon, and Yongin was also confirmed. It was also revealed that Korea's European patent strategy is expanding beyond individual technologies to span the entire industry.

SK Telecom First Applies AI-Based Network Operations at Gwanghwamun K-Pop Concert
SK텔레콤이 3월 21일 서울 광화문 일대에서 열린 대형 K-팝 공연에 AI 기반 네트워크 운영 시스템을 처음 적용해 통신 품질을 관리했다고 밝혔다. 공연 전후 3시간 동안 모바일 데이터 사용량은 12.15TB로 직전 주말 같은 시간대보다 약 2배 늘었다. SK텔레콤은 AI 시스템 ‘A-One’을 활용해 5분 단위, 50m 단위로 트래픽을 감시하며 과부하 가능성에 대응했고, 임시 통신 시설과 현장 인력 운영도 병행했다. 밀집 행사와 외국인 이용 수요가 동시에 늘어나는 환경에서 AI 기반 자율 네트워크 운영의 현장 적용 가능성을 확인한 사례로 해석된다.
