Frequency up/down conversion possible, current consumption 40mA

Analog Devices announced the release of the new LTC5562, a low-power, high-performance active double-balanced mixer that provides 50Ω matching performance over a wide frequency range of 30MHz to 7GHz.

The LTC5562 can be used for either frequency up-conversion or down-conversion applications and exhibits an excellent conversion gain of 2dB. This device operates on a single 3.3V supply rail and has a current consumption of 40mA.

If lower current consumption is required, this mixer can be configured to operate at a low current of 15mA, making it suitable for a wide range of portable and mobile RF applications. In addition, this product provides excellent dynamic range performance of +20dBm OIP3 at a frequency of 3.6GHz.

The LTC5562 combines low power consumption, wideband operation, and robust dynamic range characteristics, making it ideal for a wide range of mobile applications such as portable metering devices, battery-powered public safety and emergency radios, military manpack radios, portable modems, broadband access points, small cells, unlicensed band radios, remote controls, broadcast radios, and UAV/drone radios.

The LTC5562 is supplied in a small 10-pin 2mm x 2mm plastic QFN package, and has an operating temperature range of –40°C to 105°C. If power consumption needs to be further reduced, the mixer can be shut down by operating an external controller using the enable pin. In the disabled state, it consumes only 10μA of current. Both samples and mass-produced products are currently on supply.
