LG Refrigerator Core Component 'Inverter Linear Compressor'

LG Electronics' premium refrigerator received the highest score in a refrigerator performance evaluation conducted by Italian consumer magazine Altroconsumo. The evaluation was conducted on 198 refrigerator products sold by global manufacturers.

LG refrigerators received the highest rating of five stars in eight out of ten evaluation items. In particular, the evaluation panel gave favorable reviews of LG refrigerators for their freezing/cooling speed, temperature maintenance performance, and high energy efficiency.

Major European consumer magazines, including the Netherlands' 'Consumentenbond', Sweden's 'Rad&Ron', Portugal's 'Deco Proteste', Belgium's 'Test Aankoop', and the UK's 'Which?', all conducted their own performance evaluations and ranked LG Electronics' top-freezer bottom-freezer refrigerator as number one.



Europe is a region where house structures traditionally have narrow kitchens and relatively strict energy regulations. Therefore, LG refrigerators, which are space-efficient and energy-efficient, are being chosen by consumers.

French consumer magazine 'Que Choisir' selected LG refrigerators as the 'most reliable refrigerator' in a refrigerator reliability evaluation conducted with 34,006 consumers.

This evaluation targets consumers who purchased refrigerators since 2007 and ranks them based on the number of product failures and the severity of each type of failure while the consumer is using the product. Among various home appliances, refrigerators are recognized for their reliability because they are the only large home appliances that are operated 24 hours a day.

The 'inverter linear compressor', a key component installed in LG Electronics' refrigerators, is contributing significantly to differentiated performance and reliability. LG Electronics has been applying the inverter linear compressor to all refrigerator models since last year.


Linear compressors, in which the motor moves in a 'straight line', have less energy loss during the power transmission process, and are more than 18% more energy efficient than general inverter compressors. In addition, inverter technology, which freely implements the speed of the motor, is applied, allowing precise control of the refrigerator. Another advantage is that the structure is simpler than general compressors, making it more durable. This is why LG refrigerators can reduce vibration and noise while providing excellent performance.
