North American semiconductor equipment shipments rose 27.7% year-over-year.
Published2018.01.25 10:00The Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) announced that total North American semiconductor equipment shipments in December amounted to $2.39 billion.
SEMI reports shipments from semiconductor equipment manufacturers in North America based on a three-month average. This represents a 16.3% increase compared to $2.05 billion in November and a 27.7% increase compared to $1.87 billion in December of the previous year.
December pre-processing equipment shipments totaled $2.18 billion, up 17.7% from $1.85 billion in November and up 28.3% from $1.7 billion in December of the previous year.
December post-processing equipment shipments reached $210 million, a 3.6% increase from the $200 million shipped in November and a 22% increase from the $170 million shipped in December of last year.
“North American semiconductor equipment shipments for the month of 2017 ended on a high note this year,” said SEMI’s Ajit Manocha. “North American semiconductor equipment shipments in 2017 increased by more than 40 percent compared to 2016.”

SEMI, 한국 반도체 장비 시장 지난해 대비 132.6% 성장 매출 1위
국제반도체장비재료협회(SEMI)는 세미콘재팬(SEMICON Japan)에서 2017년 글로벌 반도체 장비 출하량을 발표했다. 2017년 글로벌 반도체 장비 매출은 559억 달러로, 2000년 달성한 최고치 477억 달러에서 35.6%가 오를 것으로 전망했다. 2018년은 이보다 7.5% 높아진 601억 달러로 예상하고 있어 2017년에 이어, 한번 더 기록을 깰 것으로 예상된다. SEMI는 2017년 웨이퍼 가공 장비는 37.5% 증가한 450억 달러, 팹설비, 웨이퍼 제조, 마스크/레티클과 같은 기타 전공정장비 분야는 45.8% 증가한 26억 달러로 전망했다. 어셈블리 및 패키징 장비 분야는 25.8% 증가하여 38억 달러, 테스트 장비는 22% 증가하여 45억 달러로 예상했다.

국제반도체장비재료협회(SEMI)I는 세계 팹 전망(World Fab Forecast) 보고서는 2017년 전세계 팹 장비 투자액이 역대 최고치인 570억에 달할 것이라고 밝혔다. 높은 반도체 수요, 메모리 가격 강세, 치열한 경쟁이 높은 수준의 팹 투자를 주도하는 원동력으로 작용하고 있으며, 많은 기업들이 신규 팹 건설 및 팹 장비를 위해 이전에는 볼 수 없던 수준의 투자를 하고 있다. 세계 팹 전망(World Fab Forecast) 데이터에 따르면 2017년 팹 장비 투자액이 전년 대비 41% 증가한 총 570억 달러이다. 2018년 투자액은 11% 증가한 630억 달러로 예상된다.
