TI announced the launch of new SimpleLink wireless and wired microcontrollers (MCUs) to meet the growing connectivity needs of buildings, factories and the power grid.

This product offers the industry's lowest power consumption and simultaneous multi-standard/multi-band connectivity, including Thread, Zigbee, Bluetooth 5, and Sub-1 GHz. The new product expands the SimpleLink MCU platform with greater memory capacity and a wider range of connectivity options. 100% code reuse across TI's ARM Cortex-M4-based MCUs allows for easy enhancement of sensor networks and cloud connectivity.

The new SimpleLink MCUs have consistently achieved the industry's lowest power consumption for over a decade using coin cell batteries. It offers an advanced low-power sensor controller with current consumption down to 1.5uA at 100MHz.

The expanded SimpleLink MCU platform supports a variety of connectivity protocols and standards, including the latest Thread and Zigbee standards, Bluetooth Low Energy, IEEE 802.15.4g, and Wireless M-Bus in the 2.4 GHz and sub-1 GHz bands.

Developers using the multi-band CC1352P wireless MCU can further extend the range in metering and building automation applications by leveraging the integrated power amplifier. This power amplifier provides high output power of +20 dBm and transmit current as low as 60 mA.

The new SimpleLink MSP432P4 MCU integrates a 16-bit precision ADC, giving developers eight times more code space. This enables support for multiple wireless connectivity stacks and 320-segment LCDs across an extended temperature range in industrial applications.

The CC13x2 and CC26x2 wireless MCUs feature new security hardware accelerators for cryptographic protocols including AES-128/256, SHA2-512, Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), RSA-2048, and a true random number generator (TRNG):
