A total of 77 companies showcased their latest testing technologies.

The 5th Automotive Testing Expo will be held at KINTEX for three days, from March 13th to 15th. With a total of 77 participating companies, this exhibition showcases the technological prowess of domestic and international automotive testing companies. Key exhibits include equipment for all types of vehicle testing and evaluation, from stress and durability testing equipment to full-scale test rigs, test simulation and aerodynamic development tools, engine test equipment, wind tunnels and full test track facilities.

In particular, at a time when vehicle reliability testing is being strengthened within the industry, officials from Cyrus Co., Ltd. and SAT, which manufacture domestic vibration testing equipment, said, "Vibration testing, which is the basis of vehicle testing, is very important." They added, "Considering that most domestically manufactured vehicles are exported overseas, the material and strength of the frame that suits the characteristics of each region are bound to be different." They added, "In order to satisfy these conditions, long-term testing under harsh driving road conditions using equipment is necessary based on external environmental data values from prior driving."

Other demonstrations at the exhibition included high-performance microphone noise location tracking equipment to detect invisible, minute defects in vehicles, and KISTREL's Force and Moment detection equipment through vehicle wheels to compare the engine output of a luxury sedan with its actual driving performance.

Also introduced is an eCall system solution for reporting emergencies.
In Europe, eCall (Emergency Call) equipment has been mandatory in all vehicles since April 2018. This system uses an integrated SIM card for emergency communications in the vehicle to locate the vehicle via GPS and request rescue if the driver is unable to contact the vehicle or in other emergency situations. At the Automotive Testing Expo, measurement equipment companies such as National Instruments and Keysight will showcase their comprehensive testing and lidar equipment for system equipment such as eCall.

However, the exhibition's scale was reduced by approximately 20-30% compared to last year, indicating a significant decline in the domestic automobile market. An official from one participating company said that the overall market sentiment was sluggish due to declining performance among automakers. According to an official from the Automotive Testing Expo organizer, the annual event is shifting to a biennial schedule starting next year.
