Smart lighting is coming this June

The 'Korea Industrial Complex Corporation Smart Energy LED Lighting Convergence Mini Cluster' (hereinafter referred to as the Cluster) plans to participate in the 'LED&OLED EXPO 2018', held at KINTEX in Ilsan from June 26 to 28, with 20 booths to introduce smart LED lighting products that have been developed so far, and to hold the 'Smart Energy LED Lighting Convergence Symposium' at the LED Industry Forum held concurrently during the same period to disclose related technologies.
There have been many criticisms within the industry that relying solely on existing LED lighting limits the creation and expansion of domestic and international markets, and that it is necessary to develop new technologies that integrate smart functions into LED lighting and to pioneer new markets through them. However, individual companies faced significant difficulties in responding due to limited opportunities to acquire related technologies and a lack of market information. It is reported that the cluster co-planned this symposium with the LED EXPO and the LED Industry Forum to resolve these industry difficulties and support the expansion of the related market.
At this exhibition, the cluster plans to carry out programs including: exhibiting smart LED lighting across 20 booths; hosting technical seminars; inviting overseas buyers and holding export consultations; signing an MOU for a Korea-Vietnam smart energy LED lighting convergence mini-cluster; implementing electric vehicle charging and parking services; implementing a smart management system for unmanned stores; and implementing a smart solar power generation system. Through these initiatives, the cluster aims to accelerate the development of a Korean-style smart LED lighting ecosystem that will take the global market by integrating the core technologies of related small and medium-sized enterprises and venture companies with LED lighting.
A cluster official stated, "As the market is recognized as a sure bet in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and IoT, and companies like Google and Apple are rushing their preparations, Korea also urgently needs to transition from a simple LED lighting industry to a smart LED lighting industry." The official added, "Taking this opportunity, we plan to showcase through products how various convergence technologies for future smart LED lighting are applied, and to share technical information from experts through on-site technical seminars."

Samsung Electronics, in collaboration with CJ PowerCast and the Korea Trade Association, has installed LED signage on the outer wall of COEX SM Town. The COEX area has been designated as Korea's first outdoor advertising free display zone and is expected to transform into a "digital media landmark" alongside its nickname as the "Korean Times Square." International Photonics Convergence Expo to be held at KINTEX in June
The "International LED & OLED EXPO 2018," Korea's largest LED-specialized trade exhibition, will be held at KINTEX Halls 3 and 4 in Ilsan from June 26 to 28. The exhibition, marking its 16th edition, is organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Korea Photonics Industry Association, the LED Industry Forum, and KOTRA, and is managed by Expo & You Co., Ltd. It is sponsored by Bucheon City, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Evaluation and Planning, the Korea Photonics Technology Institute, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the Electronic Components Research Institute, the Korea Lighting Research Institute, the Cheorwon Plasma Industrial Technology Research Institute, the Korea Lighting and Electrical Equipment Society, the Korea Lighting Fixture and LED Industry Cooperative, the Korea Lighting Industry Cooperative, the Taiwan Photonics Industry Association, the Japan LED Association, the China Illuminating Engineering Society, and the Japan LED Light Source Promotion and Development Organization.

From electronics manufacturing to electric vehicles...what exhibitions are on?
An exhibition showcasing the entire electronic manufacturing industry from start to finish will be held. The Korea Electronics Manufacturing Industry Exhibition, running from April 11 to 13 at COEX Level 3, will simultaneously host the International Surface Mount and Printed Circuit Board Production Equipment Exhibition, Photonics & LED Seoul, International Printed Electronics and Electronic Materials Industry Exhibition, and International Functional Film Industry Exhibition. In addition to exhibitor seminars, new equipment/new product presentations, and technical demonstrations, the International Future Automobile Forum, KAMP Spring International Symposium, and the Advanced Materials Technology Briefing Session for Electrical and Electronic Applications by the Materials Research Institute will also be held. The Korea Automotive Electronics Manufacturing Industry Exhibition, where visitors can examine automotive electronic components and manufacturing processes, will be held simultaneously in Hall C.
