LG Electronics is targeting the domestic audio market by launching its 2018 'Soundbar (Model names: SK10Y, SK8Y, SK5Y)'.

LG Electronics has applied high-quality audio technology jointly developed with the British luxury audio brand Meridian Audio to the 'SK10Y'. Optimal sound has been achieved by combining LG Electronics' proprietary audio technology with Meridian's superior signal processing and advanced tuning technologies.

Meridian is a leading British high-end audio company that has developed not only speakers but also digital sound processing technology and formats and standards for digital audio sources. It is renowned for harmoniously combining analog and digital audio technologies. It also designed the '3D Surround Sound System' for the luxury SUV 'Range Rover'.

The 'SK10Y' and 'SK8Y' are equipped with the 'Dolby Atmos' surround sound system, providing immersive sound just like a movie theater.

Dolby Atmos makes it seem as if sound is coming from in front of, behind, or above the user, depending on the movement or position of objects on the screen. For example, when an airplane flies over the protagonist's head, the sound is made to be heard from above the viewer's head, providing a more three-dimensional and realistic sense of space.


The 'SK10Y' features a powerful 5.1.2 channel output of 550 watts (W). The 5.1.2 channel configuration consists of five channels—front left, right, and center; five rear left and right; one subwoofer channel; and two up-firing speaker channels, making it optimized for Dolby Atmos. In particular, the up-firing speakers, which project sound towards the ceiling, deliver a sound full of spatial depth. The 'SK8Y' and 'SK5Y' are equipped with a 2.1 channel output of 360 watts (W).

With the 2018 soundbar, you can easily set up a multi-channel home theater environment by purchasing and connecting the 'Wireless Surround Speakers (Model Name: SPK8S)'. The 'Wireless Surround Speakers' feature 2 channels and a 140-watt (W) output. They connect wirelessly to the soundbar, allowing for a clean installation. For example, connecting the 'Wireless Surround Speakers' to the 5.2.1 channel 'SK10Y' allows you to create a more complete 7.2.1 channel home theater environment.

The new LG soundbar can play high-quality audio up to 24-bit. In addition, you can connect it to a smartphone to immediately play music provided by YouTube, Bugs, etc.
