'Father of Wi-Fi' Case Lynx Corvo Solution

Qorvo has launched a full-scale offensive on the domestic market based on Wi-Fi technology.

Cees Links, General Manager of Qorvo’s Wireless Connectivity Business Unit and known as the creator of Wi-Fi, unveiled Qorvo’s solutions for IoT (Internet of Things), smart homes, and Wi-Fi infrastructure at a press conference held at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul on June 7.
He specifically explained the concept of a distributed home Wi-Fi infrastructure using the 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard, foreshadowing innovation in future lifestyles.
Today, the Internet of Things (IoT) is closer to 'services' than 'things'. Users can now monitor and manage various home services, such as energy consumption efficiency, access control, security, home monitoring, lighting, and home care, through applications, and these applications have become a key element in realizing smart homes. All of this became possible as the “Butler” analyzes the living environment and makes decisions while simultaneously providing users with easily understandable information.

This new service combines sensors that monitor user activity with automated home applications (thermo control, home monitoring, lighting control systems, appliance control, intrusion detection, etc.) to control everything through a single application.

Users no longer need to have many applications and can easily manage them using a smartphone or tablet. This technology takes existing IoT technology, which connects objects to the Internet, a step further by analyzing and monitoring users' lifestyle patterns.

Furthermore, this smart service provides an environment where the elderly can live independently and safely for extended periods by strategically placing long-battery-life sensors throughout the home.

In-home infrastructure is a key technology that makes smart homes a reality.

The distributed Wi-Fi network technology unveiled at the press conference on this day is also known as Wi-Fi mesh, and it transmits Wi-Fi signals throughout the house, including the living room, bathroom, and kitchen, through pods installed in every room.

Going a step further, these pods can build a single infrastructure by incorporating IoT communication standards such as Bluetooth and Zigbee, and this solution using the 802.11ax Wi-Fi standard reduces size and cost while improving speed and capacity.

Qorvo's Wi-Fi solutions maximize Wi-Fi signal output while optimizing efficiency and reducing power consumption. This solution incorporates Wi-Fi front-end modules (FEMs), BAW filters, and power amplifiers.
