Mouser Electronics announced that it is supplying the MS4 series, an AmbiMate sensor module produced by TE Connectivity (TE).

The MS4 series sensor module, which integrates four core sensors into a single PCB (printed circuit board) assembly, is easily integrated into various products used in automation, lighting, and smart home applications. Since the MS4 series sensor module is supplied pre-designed and assembled, manufacturers can utilize critical design resources for other important tasks.

The MS4 series sensor modules include motion, light, temperature, and humidity detection sensors, and sound, carbon dioxide, and volatile organic compound (VOC) sensors are also available as options. Since options for attaching multiple objects are provided, pre-assembled PCBs can be combined with a host board. Additionally, by sharing seven common pins, all sensor configurations can be accommodated within the footprint of a single PCB.

MS4 series sensor modules are suitable for automation applications that determine whether a product is operating based on collected environmental data. For example, engineers can use one or more modules to check VOC and carbon dioxide concentrations and evaluate air quality. If the MS4 series sensor modules include a microphone, they can listen for sound and amplify motion detection. By configuring a network with multiple modules, occupancy status, humidity, temperature, and illuminance levels can be detected, allowing building managers to control indoor lighting, HVAC equipment, energy management, and other zone-specific environmental data.
