Compared to HDD without Optane memory
Double the work speed and 5x the boot speed
Samsung Electronics plans to release the 'Samsung Notebook 5' with 16GB of Intel 'Optane Memory' added to the basic 8GB DDR4 memory in Korea and China at the end of August.

HDDs are cheaper and offer greater capacity than SSDs (Solid State Drives), but their downsides are their slow speed. Optane memory improves HDD read speed by providing cache memory that stores and utilizes frequently used data. With Optane memory, operating speeds are doubled on average, and boot speeds are up to five times faster.

Additionally, with Optane memory applied, large-capacity media operations stored on HDDs can be performed up to 4.1 times faster than before, which is useful not only for general users but also for professionals.

Intel Optane memory is installed in a separate slot and supports HDDs up to 10TB. The price is also relatively cheap compared to SSD.

The 'Samsung Notebook 5' is equipped with the Windows 10 operating system, the latest 8th generation Intel processor, a 39.6cm Full HD (1920 x 1080) wide-viewing angle display, a full-size keyboard, and an Nvidia MX110 graphics card.

Samsung Electronics PC Business Team Managing Director Lee Min-cheol said, “The ‘Samsung Notebook 5’ is equipped with Intel Optane memory, which improves the speed of the HDD and enhances user convenience,” and added, “We will continue to work to expand user convenience in the future.”
