Molex subsidiary Bitware launches short-range edge servers.
Equipped with FPGA accelerators from Acronis, Intel, and Xilinx
Support for 5G, NFV, predictive analytics, machine learning, etc.


On the 27th, Bitware launched the 'TeraBox™ 200DE' short-range edge FPGA server.

The TeraBox 200DE is a compact 2U thin server based on the Dell PowerEdge™ XE2420, supporting specialized tasks such as 5G, network functions virtualization (NFV), predictive analytics, and machine learning inference.

The 200DE features two 2nd generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors and supports two full-height, full-length (FHFL) PCIe card slots.

Supported FPGA-based PCIe cards include: △'S7t-VG6' equipped with Acronis' Speedster 7t FPGA and 400GbE network I/O; △'520N-MX' equipped with Intel's Stratix 10 MX (including 16G HBM2 memory). △The 'XUP-P3R' is equipped with Xilinx's UltraScale+ FPGA and 4x 100GbE network I/O with clock synchronization and triggering capabilities. Other certified cards are also available, and additional expansion capabilities are available via M.2, U.2, and ESDFF.

The operating temperature range is 5°C to 40°C and has passed Network Equipment-Building System (NEBS) compliance requirements. The servers and FPGA accelerators are covered by a three-year warranty and can be purchased directly from BitWare or Dell.

“The lack of an enterprise-class edge server platform has made it very difficult for large vendors to provide customers with high-performance FPGA-based solutions for edge applications,” said Craig Petrie, vice president of marketing at Bittware. “Based on our years of experience working with Dell OEMs, we were able to understand the characteristics of the Dell PowerEdge XE2420 and deliver this product.”
