LG Innotek, for space-constrained IoT devices
Nordic adopts compact, low-power Bluetooth modules
Wide temperature range and dynamic multi-protocol support


Nordic Semiconductor announced on the 2nd that LG Innotek has selected Nordic's 'nRF52833' BLE multiprotocol SoC and 'nRF52810' BLE SoC for the core processing performance and wireless connectivity of its 'ETWBCLU03' and 'ETWBCLU01' low energy Bluetooth (BLE) modules.

The ETWBCLU03 module comes in a compact 7×5×1.6mm form factor with a built-in antenna and is certified for an extended temperature range of –40°C to 105°C.

Additionally, the nRF52833 SoC's extended temperature range and large memory (512kB Flash and 128kB RAM), as well as its dynamic multiprotocol support that allows simultaneous wireless protocol connections, make it suitable for a variety of IoT applications that are affected by rising temperatures, such as commercial lighting or industrial equipment.

Additionally, it supports full-speed USB operation, allowing the module to be used in USB-compatible wired peripheral applications. You can also handle a Device Firmware Update (DFU) of your device via USB connection.

The ETWBCLU01 module comes in a 6×4×1.6mm form factor with a built-in antenna and is designed for a variety of space-constrained IoT applications, including power-constrained applications such as blood glucose monitoring patches, wireless earphones, and hearing aids.

The nRF52810 SoC that powers this module is designed to minimize power consumption, featuring a fully automatic power management system that reduces power consumption by up to 80% compared to the nRF51 series.

“Nordic’s BLE SoC offers stable performance, multi-protocol support, and the benefits of a variety of development tools,” said Jang Jeong-hun, head of LG Innotek’s Hardware R&D Center. “Nordic’s software architecture simplifies development and reduces time to market by separating the RF protocol software from the developer’s application code.”
