U+ Builds Smart Energy Platform in Incheon Industrial Complex
Cloud energy management service without equipment
Expected to increase energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gases


LG Uplus announced on the 24th that it will build a smart energy platform in the Namdong National Industrial Complex in Incheon. Uplus is participating as an implementer in the "Industrial Complex Smart Energy Platform Construction Project," commissioned by the government as part of its Green New Deal policy.

The Smart Energy Platform Construction Project, scheduled to run until the end of 2022, aims to create an efficient energy usage environment by leveraging AI, IoT, and big data to foster the growth of industrial complexes. Currently, smart energy platforms are being built in seven industrial complexes: Gyeonggi Banwol-Sihwa, Gyeongnam Changwon, Incheon Namdong, Gyeongbuk Gumi, Jeollanam-do Yeosu, Gwangju High-Tech, and Daegu Seongseo.

U+ is responsible for building an energy platform within the Incheon Namdong National Industrial Complex. The first step will be to build and operate the "Industrial Complex Factory Energy Management System (CEMS)." CEMS provides cloud computing-based factory energy management services to tenant companies.

Tenant companies can utilize the resources necessary for energy management even without owning separate physical IT infrastructure, such as servers. By leveraging this, they can efficiently manage their energy usage, saving costs and potentially reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

U+ will operate a system that collects, stores, refines, and analyzes energy data from tenant companies in real time, and will continue to provide this data. Furthermore, U+ plans to establish a "smart energy cluster" centered around tenant companies, with participation from energy companies, institutions, and universities, and provide ICT-based energy businesses specialized for the industrial complex.
