KT to participate in 2021 'Metaverse' Smart Country Expo online

The Smart Country Expo, now in its 13th year, will be held for three days from the 21st to the 23rd on an online platform based on the metaverse under the theme of ‘Another Republic of Korea, Digital Twin Country Designs the Smarter Future.’

On the 19th, KT will participate in the '2021 Smart National Land Expo' hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to introduce mobility services and businesses. It will operate an exhibition hall under the theme of 'DIGICO KT Smart Mobility' and introduce five services and businesses: △'Geomaster' mobility platform, △One Navi navigation, △AI infotainment, △Jeju Island next-generation transportation system (C-ITS), and △Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Traffic Management (UTM).
GeoMaster is a solution that provides specialized functions such as Giga Genie AI voice recognition, AI-based traffic prediction, and freight and electric vehicle route guidance along with map, traffic, location search, and route guidance functions. Wonnaebee provides real-time signal information on approximately 300km of major roads in Jeju Island and offers various services, including a specialized driver's license service that allows practice on 108 road test courses at 27 driver's license examination centers nationwide.
In addition, you can also see the Jeju Island C-ITS project that implements real-time two-way communication between vehicles and between vehicles and between vehicles and roads using image analysis solutions and precision positioning technology, the unmanned aerial vehicle traffic management (UTM) platform, and AI mobility infotainment that you can enjoy in your car.
KT IT Division Convergence Mobility Development P-TF Director Lee Ho-jae said, “Through this event, you will be able to see the excellence of various mobility platforms provided by KT, and you will be able to view them safely through an online exhibition utilizing the metaverse.”

Seoul City completes 5G C-ITS demonstration project, aims for commercialization by the end of this month.
SK텔레콤이 서울 시내 차량과 보행자, 교통 인프라 등 모든 것을 5G로 연결하는 차세대 지능형 교통 시스템, C-ITS 실증사업을 이달 말 마무리 짓고 상용화에 돌입할 계획이라 밝혔다. 서울시와 SKT는 C-ITS를 통해 확보한 정보를 민간 내비게이션 제공업체에 5G로 제공하고, 이들 업체는 자사 서비스 이용자들에게 해당 정보를 실시간 제공할 수 있도록 플랫폼을 구축하고 있다. 플랫폼은 오는 2022년 내 완성될 예정이다.

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Full-scale Creation of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Data Industry Ecosystem
Twenty-five participating agencies of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport public institution consortium concluded a memorandum of understanding to strengthen mutual cooperation. Through this agreement, the participating agencies have committed to collaborating in establishing an environment for creating a land, infrastructure and transport data industry ecosystem, including sharing diverse data in the land, infrastructure and transport sector and promoting joint research projects. This enables the establishment of a new technology development environment such as heterogeneous data combination and real-time data collection through linkage and utilization of data held by each agency.
