With the growth of the semiconductor industry, various cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, AI, and displays are being widely adopted, and the construction and interior design industries are actively launching products that incorporate these technologies. The scope of these technologies is expanding, from temperature and humidity sensors, carbon dioxide sensors, and motion sensors to products equipped with AI functions and eco-friendly products utilizing solar panels.

The 60th MBC Architecture Expo, held at KINTEX in Ilsan on the 12th, showcased a diverse range of housing-related products, including building materials, interior design, landscaping, and lighting, all designed to enhance quality of life. Furthermore, the exhibition showcased building materials and product lines incorporating IT technology, offering a glimpse into the changing landscape of living.

An official from Maxplus, a company that offers electric vehicle chargers, emphasized that with the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market coupled with the phasing out of internal combustion engines, electric vehicle charging infrastructure is no longer optional but essential. In the construction industry, charger installation must be considered from the initial building design stage, and thus, the proliferation of electric vehicle chargers is expected to expand from home charging infrastructure to businesses, factories, and public facilities. He predicted rapid growth in the charging equipment market over the next 10 years, saying, “Homes have a high demand for slow charging, which is beneficial for battery life and discharge. General companies have a high demand for medium-speed charging, and rest areas have a high demand for rapid charging.”




Barrier-free design for architectural design requires automatic doors. Products that recognize human movements and automatically open doors require sensors, a motor that opens the door, and a motor control solution to control it. While sliding doors that open sideways are now being commercialized, swing doors that open both forward and backward are becoming increasingly common.

The growing trend toward eco-friendliness is believed to have led to the expansion of solar-powered lighting products in the lighting industry. At the 2022 Dong-A Landscape Expo, held concurrently with this year's expo, companies specializing in solar-powered garden lights, streetlights, and lighting products are exhibiting their products. A diverse range of products utilizing LED lighting also caught the eye.



Today's LED lighting utilizes the function of light aesthetically. Products using LED lighting are works of art, beautifully crafted as landscape and interior objects. Garden Factory's IllumiAtree project used hundreds of thousands of LEDs to create a luminous tree. Visitors were invited to take commemorative photos at the photo zone set up around the sparkling LED light installation. JISUNG INC, a company specializing in LED clocks, showcased LED wall clocks, calendars, and other products.

Among gardening products, a robotic lawnmower caught the eye. The "Silenocity," a lawnmower robot exhibited by the German company Gardena, is a smart product that automatically mows and recharges its lawn. Equipped with rain and collision sensors, it responds to its surroundings, and sensor control allows the robot to determine the frequency of lawn mowing.

The AIoT trend, which integrates artificial intelligence with the Internet of Things, was also on display at the architecture fair. Biocraft exhibited its smart air solution, "Irim," which measures indoor environments using a sensing board and temperature and humidity sensors, then uses an AI system to provide an air purification solution tailored to the specific environment. Biocraft stated that the system can be remotely controlled via a smartphone app, and that it can also measure air quality and harmful substances with additional sensors such as radon, ozone, and formaldehyde.




On one side of the exhibition hall, a variety of camping cars were displayed to create an experiential space. With the spread of COVID-19, camping and car camping (car camping) have become increasingly popular due to social distancing, leading to a boom in campervan manufacturers. Even after social distancing measures were lifted, a significant number of visitors showed interest in campervans. An industry insider stated, "Even with the lifting of social distancing measures, demand for camping, which is relatively safer than crowded places, remains steady."

Meanwhile, this event, which will be held simultaneously with nine exhibitions, including the 2022 Seoul Lighting Fair, Dong-A Public Facilities and Landscape Fair, and Seoul Digital Printing & Sign Expo, will run until the 15th, and various seminars on topics such as the latest architectural technology and real estate policies will also be prepared.
